Mandated by State law (California Retail Food Code), EHS permits and inspects retail food facilities in Marin County. In addition to routine inspections, EHS staff responds to health and safety complaints as well as reports of food-borne illness associated with a food facility.
The purpose of the Food Program is to prevent the occurrence of food borne illnesses; to promote the preparation, production and service of food in hygienic, appealing food facilities and to protect the health of the food worker by encouraging safe and sanitary on-the-job working conditions.
