VOTING AT THE POLLS

The polls and the Registrar of Voters’ Office will be open for voting from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Click on Smart Voter on the home page to find the location of your polling place, or call the Registrar of Voters automated phone line for your polling place location.

VOTING BY MAIL

Return your absentee ballot to the Registrar of Voters’ Office or to any polling place in Marin County by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Your ballot must be received by the Registrar by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day in order for it to be counted.

PROVISIONAL BALLOTS

Provisional ballots voted at the polls are verified and then counted after Election Day. You can find out if your provisional ballot was counted by calling the Registrar of Voters’ automated information line 28 days after the election.

ELECTION RESULTS

Election results will be posted on this website shortly after 8:00 p.m. on November 6. The 8:00 p.m. results include mail ballots received before Election Day. Results from the precincts will be posted approximately every ½ hour as they arrive. The first results from the polls are expected by 9:00 p.m. and the final, unofficial election results report is expected by 12:00 a.m. November 7. After Election Day, results will be updated every Friday by 5:00 p.m. If Friday is a holiday, results will be updated on the following Monday by 5:00.

POST ELECTION CANVASS

The Post Election Canvass begins on Wednesday, November 7 and will continue until completed, no later than December 4. During the canvass, the Registrar of Voters count mail ballots and provisional ballots received at the polls, balance the rosters, accounts for all voted and unvoted ballots and conducts the 1% manual tally of precincts. All election processes are open to the public for observation.

RANDOM SELECTION OF PRECINCTS FOR THE POST ELECTION MANUAL TALLY

The random selection of precincts for the post election manual tally will take place on Thursday, November 15 at 9:00 a.m. The manual tally will follow shortly thereafter.

RECOUNT REQUESTS

Request for a recount must be filed within 5 days after the Registrar of Voters certifies the results of the election. Certification will occur before or on December 4th. When the election has been certified, the final official results will be posted on this website. Please check with the office for the actual date of certification.
