San Rafael, CA – Multiple trucks, a mower, personal watercraft and more will be available for public purchase starting Saturday, February 4, when the Marin County Department of Public Works starts an online auction.
Surplus vehicles and equipment are being offered at below market value. The auction is hosted by www.publicsurplus.com, a secure auction website specializing in selling surplus government property to the public.
The County’s fleet continues to be reduced to show a commitment to environmental awareness and fiscally responsible spending. Vehicles with high fuel consumption or excessive particulate emissions are being sold and, if possible, replaced by more eco-friendly options. The County fleet now has approximately 75 hybrids, flex fuel or electric vehicles.
The auction begins Saturday, February 4, at midnight Pacific time and closes Saturday, February 11, at 2 p.m. Details about the auction items are not available or visible on the website until the auction begins. Vehicles with their corresponding service records are available for inspection Tuesday, February 7, through Thursday, February 9, from noon until 3 p.m. at the County Garage, 6 Peter Behr Drive, San Rafael.
All items are sold “as is” and all sales are final; it is the buyer’s responsibility to check the vehicle’s condition prior to purchase. Payment must be received by Public Surplus within five business days of the auction’s close, and vehicles must be picked up weekdays between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. within five business days of receipt of payment.
