Public Works

At Marin County Public Works, it's our job to help provide a safe environment and an enhanced quality of life to the people of Marin County. We do this by maintaining and improving the public infrastructure as well as providing timely and cost-effective support to other county departments. We also oversee the Marin Civic Center Café.

In order to do this most effectively, we seek out funding sources for existing and new public services and encourage and develop partnerships with other County departments, agencies and private industry. By doing so, we are able to find cost-effective solutions for new and existing projects, improve employee training and promote employee development.

The Department of Public Works administers a variety of programs encompassing roadworks, communication, environment and transportation. One example of our work can be seen at the Marin Center/Veterans' Memorial Building.  The building is undergoing a 21st century remodel and you can watch its progress!
