County to Auction Surplus Vehicles Online

Department of Public Works to offer deals starting October 15

San Rafael, CA – Multiple SUVs, sedans, work trucks and a bucket truck will be available for public purchase starting October 15 when the Marin County Department of Public Works starts an online auction.

This truck is among the vehicles being auctioned. This truck is among the vehicles being auctioned starting October 15.

Surplus vehicles and equipment are being offered at below market value. The auction is hosted by www.publicsurplus.com, a secure auction website specializing in selling surplus government property to the public.

As Marin County is committed to environmental awareness and fiscally responsible spending, the County vehicle fleet continues to be reduced. Vehicles with high fuel consumption or excessive particulate emissions are being sold and, if possible, replaced by more eco-friendly options. The County fleet now has approximately 75 vehicles powered by hybrid, flex fuel or electric powerplants.

The auction begins Saturday, October 15, at midnight Pacific time and closes Saturday, October 22, at 2 p.m. Details about the auction items are not available or visible on the website until the auction begins. Vehicles with corresponding service records are available for inspection Tuesday, October 18, through Thursday,  October 20, from noon until 3 p.m. at the County Garage, 6 Peter Behr Drive, San Rafael.

All items are sold “as is” and all sales are final; it is the buyer’s responsibility to check the vehicle’s condition prior to purchase. Payment must be received by Public Surplus within five business days of the auction’s close, and vehicles must be picked up weekdays between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. within five business days of the receipt of payment.
