Eat Pancakes, Support Point Reyes Disaster Council

Traditional community breakfast is Oct. 26 at Point Reyes fire station

Woodacre, CA – In the villages of West Marin, self-sufficiency during and after a disaster is critical. No group knows that better than the Point Reyes Disaster Council, which promotes emergency preparedness and recruits citizen first-responders.

The Marin County Fire Department is hosting the traditional pancake breakfast benefit for the Point Reyes Disaster Council on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Point Reyes fire station. The morning feast will mark the 27th year of the community-building fundraiser.

The Point Reyes Disaster Council is spearheaded by citizens who have partnered with Marin County Fire and other agencies to keep residents ready and prepared for worst-case scenarios.

Visitors are urged to stop by and carbo load between 8-11:30 a.m. for just $6 … and it’s only $3 for kids. In addition to a great breakfast, the biggest annual raffle in West Marin will take place along with a silent auction. Proceeds go to events such as community emergency response trainings, shelter management drills and other sessions that prepare residents to fend for themselves and help others during a disaster.

Stop by for breakfast at 4th and B streets! It’s guaranteed to be fun for kids thanks to fire truck rides and the presence of a certain helmeted brown bear who is a staunch advocate for fire prevention. Learn how to stay prepared for the worst by supporting “the best,” a.k.a. the Point Reyes Disaster Council and the Marin County Fire Department.
