San Rafael, CA – Progress on the removal of the concrete bridge over the creek in downtown San Anselmo will be the focus of a community information meeting at 6:30 PM Thursday, January 11, in the San Anselmo Town Council chamber at 525 San Anselmo Avenue.
The meeting will include updates from Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District staff members, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions and share concerns. Following the formal update presentation, staff will be available to meet with property owners, other community members, and anyone else with an interest in the project.
The project is a significant effort to reduce risk to lives and property from flooding during severe storms. A key part of the project is the removal of a concrete bridge that blocks creek water flow. Its removal will lower flood risk for hundreds of nearby homes and reduce the amount of water leaving the creek that typically flows through San Anselmo Avenue causing damage to downtown commercial buildings. Project planning is in the final stages and bridge removal is expected to begin in the summer.
Details about the project can be found on the Flood Control District’s website.
