November 15 Webinar to Shine a Light on Domestic Violence

District Attorney partners with Center for Domestic Peace on free events

San Rafael, CA – As part of a continued commitment to raise awareness about domestic violence, the Marin County District Attorney’s Office is partnering with the Center for Domestic Peace to host a second free informational webinar on the topic ABUSE IS NOT ALWAYS PHYSICAL at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 15.

Spanish translation and ASL interpretation will be available for the one-hour videoconference. To register, visit the DA’s Stop Abuse webpage.

At the core of domestic and dating violence is the abuser’s need to control. That need can manifest in different ways and become violent over time. Webinar participants will learn common behaviors and patterns of abusive controllers and what to do if they or someone they know are in an abusive relationship.

The San Rafael-based Center for Domestic Peace leads a comprehensive community effort to end the No.1 violent crime in Marin County: domestic violence. The center provides transformational services and programs that protect and enhance victim safety, and ultimately engage the community in permanent change.

Presenter Meghan Kehoe is the center’s Children, Youth and Community Prevention Division Director and a nationally recognized expert on the topic.

District Attorney Lori Frugoli said domestic violence continues to be the most frequent violent crime reported in Marin.

“We also know these crimes are underreported,” she said. “We need our community to help solve this problem and end these crimes. You can be an active part of the solution by learning and sharing information about this important issue.”
