Thinking about Electrifying? Get Questions Answered

Marin County Sustainability Team offers free webinars in November

San Rafael, CA – Questions often arise when a sustainability-minded person starts to plan a home improvement project that involves energy efficiency, solar and battery backup, electric vehicles, or replacing gas appliances with electric-powered alternatives. The Marin County Sustainability Team is ready to provide answers as it hosts a series of free webinars in early November that will provide “deep dives” into specific projects.

Online attendees will learn about the latest technology, what a homeowner needs to know before starting a project, and the available rebates and incentives that can help pay for upgrades.

Each webinar will feature experts in the fields of heat pumps, green building design, solar and battery backup technology, electric vehicles, and more. The webinar formats will be presentations followed by Q&A, so residents are encouraged to “get their questions answered” at these free online sessions.

Here is the webinar schedule:

  • Thursday, November 2, 6 PM: Heat Pump Water Heaters
  • Tuesday, November 7, 6 PM: Solar + Battery Storage
  • Thursday, November 9, 6 PM: Heat Pump Space Heaters
  • Tuesday, November 14, 6 PM: Making an Electrification Plan for your Home
  • Thursday, November 16, 6 PM: Electric Vehicles 101

Electrification projects are becoming more popular as residents look to save on utility bills, make homes more comfortable, improve indoor air quality, or lower a home’s greenhouse gas footprint. Funding programs from state and local governments and utilities are already in place to encourage adoption. And with the 2022 Federal Inflation Reduction Act, even more funding opportunities will become available in early 2024.

“There can be a learning curve with these newer heat pump technologies for homeowners and contractors,” said Kellen Dammann, a program coordinator with the Sustainability Team. “It’s our goal with these webinars to cover those questions and concerns for residents looking into these projects. For example, the Electrification Planning webinar on November 14 will cover strategies on how to fully electrify a home without upgrading the electrical panel.”
