Candidate Filing Opens for November Election

Nominations accepted through August 11

San Rafael, CA – The opportunity for public service is here. Monday, July 17, is the first day for candidates to file nomination papers for Marin County offices in the November 7 local district elections.

The nomination period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, August 11, with an extension to Wednesday, August 16, if an incumbent officeholder does not file.

There are open seats for city and town councils and on the boards of Laguna Joint School District, Lincoln School District, Sleepy Hollow Fire Protection District, and three Community Services Districts — Marin City, Muir Beach, and Tomales Village. The list of open seats and qualifications is on the Elections Department website.

Candidates for district posts may pick up and file nomination papers at the Marin County Elections Department, Suite 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. The hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. Friday, August 11. Candidates for city and town offices must pick up and file nomination papers at the office of their city or town clerk. Check with the city or town clerk for office hours and filing procedures.
