San Rafael, CA – In preparation for a public hearing on the new medicinal cannabis delivery-only retailer ordinance on October 31, the County of Marin has scheduled a workshop on the subject during the October 10 meeting of the Board of Supervisors. The County encourages anyone interested in the topic to attend and provide input on the draft ordinance. The workshop is to start at 1:30 p.m. at the Marin County Civic Center in San Rafael.
The County debuted a draft of its new medicinal cannabis ordinance in September following extensive feedback from residents, the industry, and the Board of Supervisors. The ordinance would require a retailer to be closed to the public and dispense medicinal cannabis exclusively by delivery – a significant change from an earlier draft ordinance. The new draft ordinance only affects medicinal cannabis regulations in the unincorporated areas of Marin; towns and cities create regulations in their own jurisdictions.
In addition to the 1:30 p.m. workshop October 10, at which the Supervisors will listen to comments but not vote, the public is invited to submit comments prior to the first reading of the ordinance, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. October 31. A final public hearing is tentatively set for 1:30 p.m. November 14. If the ordinance is approved, a license application period would begin.
The public may review the draft ordinance on the County’s website. For more background on the ordinance, see the County’s September 8 news release. The Board chamber is in Suite 330 of the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. All sessions of the Board of Supervisors may be watched live on Comcast Channel 27 or on the County’s webcast. Sign up to receive emailed County updates on the Cannabis Program webpage.
