Exchange Set Up for Toy Guns, Violent Video Games

Families invited to trade items for ice cream to promote peace in homes

San Rafael, CA – The Marin County District Attorney, along with the Center for Domestic Peace and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, is sponsoring an exchange program for parents to voluntarily turn in toy guns and violent video games.

Four dates and locations have been set for residents to drop off the guns and video games during October. Free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will be served at the events, all scheduled for 10 AM to 1 PM. The dates and locations are:

  • October 4, Novato Police Department, 909 Machin Ave., Novato
  • October 11, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, 290 Bon Air Center, Greenbrae
  • October 18, Town Center Corte Madera
  • October 25, Sausalito Police Department, 29 Caledonia St., Sausalito

District Attorney Ed Berberian released a statement about the program and acknowledged that “We know guns in homes of domestic violence incidents increase the potential for very tragic events.”
