The quality of Marin County’s roads keeps improving, and there is documented proof.
The soon-to-be-released 2012 Regional Pavement Condition Summary Report published by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission shows Marin having an overall Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of 57 out of 100 for 2012, a significant improvement over the 48 PCI reported in 2006.
Since 2006, the County has invested heavily in improving its road infrastructure through the implementation of two five-year pavement rehabilitation programs totaling more than $50 million in projects. As a result of this aggressive strategy, Marin is one of seven jurisdictions having the best three-year moving average in PCI, raising it by three points in one year. Out of the 110 jurisdictions listed in the report, only three had larger increases in their three-year moving average PCI values.
“Our progress is deeply satisfying, and we remain committed to the continued improvement of our roads infrastructure,” said Marin County Board of Supervisors President Judy Arnold.
