San Rafael, CA
– There is good news for young families in the San Rafael area:
Marin County Parks is renovating
Candy’s Park in Santa Venetia.
Working with community representatives over the past year, Marin County Parks landscape architect Nancy Peake created an exciting design that integrates a new play structure and new site furnishings into a more natural landscape. The “pocket” park – just one-tenth of an acre – will get a fresh and green look with features such as a water play rock, a log balance beam, a crawl tunnel log and a rustic-looking play structure.
A neighborhood volunteer day at the park is set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. Parks staff and contractor Community Playgrounds Inc. of Vallejo will direct volunteers in the installation of major play components.
ldquo; We have had tremendous support from the community and a local mom’s group during the design phase,” Peake said. “Now comes the fun part of bringing the park to life. Working alongside the neighbors makes it even more rewarding.”
Taxpayers in County Service Area #18, which encompasses all of the Santa Venetia and Las Gallinas valleys, funded the $112,865 renovation.
Candy’s Park, constructed in 2002, is just off North San Pedro Road east of the Marin County Civic Center. From eastbound North San Pedro, go left on at La Pasada Way and right on Adrian Way. Candy’s Park is on the left.
