Candidate Nomination Period Opens July 15

Registration starts for those running in Nov. 5 District Election

The nominations period for the Nov. 5, 2013 District Election in Marin County will open on Monday, July 15. Fifty-three jurisdictions, including cities, schools and special districts, have open seats for this election (see full list below for open seats and qualifications).

Candidates or their authorized representative may pick up and file Declaration of Candidacy forms at the Marin County Elections Office, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from July 15 to Aug. 9. The office is in Suite 121 of the Marin Civic Center Administration Building, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.

The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Aug. 9. If an incumbent does not file for office by then, the filing period will be extended for that office until 5 p.m. Aug. 14 for non-incumbent candidates only.

Nomination documents for candidates for office in the city/towns of Corte Madera, Fairfax, Larkspur, Mill Valley, Novato, San Anselmo, San Rafael, and Tiburon are available only at the respective city/town Clerks’ Offices. Check with City Clerk for hours and procedures.
