San Rafael, CA – After tallying 1,000 provisional ballots the past two days, the Marin County Elections Department is finished calculating results from the June 5 California Statewide Primary Election. Fresh election results will be posted at 5 p.m. Friday, June 22, and will show final unofficial counts for all races and measures on the ballot.
The state-required 1 percent manual tally began at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 21, and is expected to conclude Tuesday, June 26. The manual tally is conducted to identify any discrepancies with the machine tabulation of ballots.
Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts said the final voter turnout for the primary was nearly 56 percent, or more than one-third higher than the June 2014 Statewide Primary turnout of 41 percent.
By law, the elections team has until July 5 to certify and report final election results to the Secretary of State, though Roberts anticipates completing that process by late next week. The election will be formally ratified by the Marin County Board of Supervisors in July.
