Greenbrae to Have Special Election May 2

Arguments may be filed by 4:30 p.m. February 13

San Rafael, CA – Greenbrae residents soon will have the opportunity to vote on a measure to increase a special tax for maintenance and improvements to landscaped medians.

The annual tax on residents of County Service Area #16 is $150 per improved parcel, and the measure will ask voters if the tax should be increased to $300 per year per improved parcel starting in fiscal year 2017-2018.

Written arguments for and against Measure A may be filed by the governing board, members of the board, bona fide associations of citizens, or any resident who is eligible to vote on the measure.

The deadline for filing arguments is 4:30 p.m. Monday, February 13. Completed submission and signature forms are required at the time of filing. Information about the measure and filing arguments can be found at May 2, 2017 Election Measure's Guide. Documents are available for public examination in the Elections Department for 10 days from the filing date.

A sample ballot and informational guide will be mailed to registered voters the final week of March, and official ballots will be mailed April 3. This is an all-mail ballot election, so there will be no polling places on May 2.

The Elections Department is in Suite 121 of the Marin Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. Weekday office hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
