March Vote to Undergo Pre-Election Test

Routine run-through takes place February 13 for special election

San Rafael, CA -The Marin County Elections Department will conduct a public logic and accuracy test of the vote-counting program and ballots for the March 3, Stinson Beach Special Election.

The test, which is conducted before every election, is designed to provide an overview of the election night vote-counting process and to verify that the ballot counting program prepared for the election is properly reading and tabulating votes. If a mistake is discovered during the test, the Registrar of Voters, Lynda Roberts, will investigate the cause and correct the problem, then conduct another test.

In the special election, voters in the Stinson Beach area will determine if a special tax should be levied to provide funding for a $5.7 million project to address flooding issues, natural creek functions and habitat enhancement.

The test will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, February 13 in the Elections Office, Suite 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA. The public is welcome to observe the test.
