Schools IPM Program

Joe Deviney, Agriculture, Weights and Measures - Marin County

In the fall of 2000, Governor Davis signed into law the Healthy Schools Act of 2000 (AB 2260). This new law encourages the adoption of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as a way of reducing pesticide use and protecting the health of our children and the environment.

With a grant from the Department of Pesticide Regulation, the Department of Agriculture has embarked on a long-term project to help schools design and implement IPM programs. Information developed in Marin County will serve as a model for other schools in the state.
