About the County's Current Green Building Code

Green Building Code Requirements have been updated and in effect since January 1, 2023.

For more details on the code, please review the adopted 2022 Green Building Ordinance 3776 that updated portions of Title 19 Marin County Building Code, Subchapter 2 - Green Building Requirements.

For ease, a high-level one-page summary of the County's 2022 Green Building Ordinance was created. Also, the following one-page flyer fact sheets were created to highlight key requirements and rebates and incentives available:

  1. All-Electric for All New Construction Buildings
  2. Electric Vehicle (EV) Readiness and Infrastructure for New Construction and Renovations
  3. Energy Efficiency and Electrification for Existing Single-Family Renovations
  4. Low-Carbon Concrete Requirements for All Building Projects (Adopted November 2019, deferred enforcement during shelter-in-place, and enforcement will resume January 1, 2023.)
  5. 2024 Rebates and Tax Incentives for Efficiency and Electrification Single-Family Home Retrofits
