If you are a general, plumbing, HVAC, or insulation contractor, you can take advantage of training resources to expand your knowledge base and skill sets and participate in rebate programs to grow your business. Rebate Programs Paid to Contractors

BayREN Home+

The Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) Home+ program provides rebates for single family home energy efficiency projects. Eligible measures include HVAC upgrades, hot water heater upgrades, insulation, building air sealing, duct replacements, switching to heat pumps, and more. Contractors must sign up with the BayREN Home+ program in order to offer rebates. Contractor participation is free.

Participating contractors are included in BayREN marketing efforts and the Home Energy Advisor referral service.

BayREN/MCE Clean Energy Midstream Heat Pump Water Heater Incentive

Contractors working in the MCE Clean Energy service territory can receive a direct-to-contractor $1,000 incentive for qualifying residential heat pump water heater projects.

TECH Clean California Heat Pump Incentives

The TECH Clean California program is a statewide effort to increase installation of heat pump space and water heating in residential homes. In the Bay Area, the TECH program has integrated with the BayREN Home+ program to provide additional rebates for heat pump projects. In order to offer TECH rebates, contractors need to enroll in the BayREN Home+ program.

Steps to enroll:

  • Register online here
  • Complete 5 online training webinars which can be taken at anytime
  • Complete the onboarding paperwork (including providing a W9, a Certificate of Insurance for auto, General Liability, Worker's Comp, and a COVID-19 Safety Acknowledgement, and
  • Sign a Contractor Participation Agreement

Other Rebates for Marin County Residents

Electrify Marin

Electrify Marin provides residents in Marin County with rebates for switching from gas appliances to energy efficient electric options. Eligible projects include heat pump space heaters, mini-split space heaters, heat pump water heaters, induction cooking, and service panel upgrades (when needed for an electrification project). This rebate is applied for by the residents, which means no extra paperwork for the contractor.

Tools

Marin Builders Association Lending Tool Library

The Marin Builders Association Lending Tool Library loans building measurement equipment free of charge to qualified Marin County professionals working on short term energy efficiency projects. Available tools include the Blower Door, Duct Blaster, Thermal Imager, and more.

BayREN Title 24 Training

The BayREN Codes & Standards program offers free training designed to educate both local officials and the private sector building community in key aspects of code compliance and enforcement. Energy Code Ace Title 24 Training

Energy Code Ace offers free Title 24 Part 6 training for building departments and the private sector. The program is sponsored by the California Statewide Codes & Standards program funded by the California Investor Owned Utilities. Visit their website to view course offerings, dates and location.
