Producing clear and accurate plans, which have all the information necessary without a lot of extraneous detail, is the key to success in moving through the planning process efficiently. The Marin County Planning Division’s “Planning Application Submittal Checklist” describes in detail the information that architects, landscape architects, and civil engineers need to prepare before they submit an application for review. The sample plans supplement the checklist by providing examples of complete sets of plans. Two sets of sample plans are provided as examples for designers. The first plan set exhibits a typical Tentative Map application, intended to subdivide a lot that is already developed with a home into two lots to create a new building site. The second plan set exhibits a Design Review application for the new home on the vacant lot created by the subdivision.
Before preparing plans to submit for a planning application, please review these plan sets to better understand how to best represent the proposed design.
