Fire Department Open House Set for Oct. 5

Bring family and friends to one of six stations

San Rafael, CA – The doors of every Marin County Fire Department station will be rolled up October 5 to welcome visitors during the department’s countywide open house.

The event, set for 1-3 p.m. that Sunday, is a kickoff for National Fire Prevention Week, an annual reminder that prevention, preparation and working smoke alarms save lives.

Bring family and friends down to meet our Marin County Fire Department staff members and learn what they do to support the community. Putting out fires is just one aspect of their jobs.

“Our firefighters truly enjoy visiting with the community, entertaining the kids and helping educate the parents regarding fire safety,” Chief Jason Weber said. “The visitors are always interested to check out station and hear about the variety of work the fire department does. Everyone enjoys meeting the men and women who serve their neighborhood.”

Open house a fun opportunity to have kids of all ages take a tour of the station, try on some of the fancy protective gear and climb aboard our engines. Visitors can take home tips, materials, fire prevention tools and huge smiles.

Here are the six locations for our station open houses:

  • Woodacre (headquarters): 33 Castle Rock Avenue
  • Hicks Valley: 7330 Red Hill Road
  • Marin City: 850 Drake Avenue
  • Point Reyes: 101 4th Street
