San Rafael, CA – After leading her department on an interim basis the past six months, Mina Martinovich is the County of Marin’s choice to lead its Department of Finance, which includes the roles of Auditor, Controller, Treasurer, Tax Collector, and Public Administrator.
The Marin County Board of Supervisors unanimously confirmed the hiring recommendation of County Administrator Matthew Hymel during its October 11 meeting.
Martinovich succeeds Roy Given, who retired in April after 31 years with the County. Martinovich, an employee since June 2011, was the Assistant Director of Finance the past seven years.
As the County’s Chief Fiscal Officer, Martinovich is charged with maintaining the accounts of County government, the County’s school districts, and the dozens of special districts within Marin County. She administers the County’s major financial, budgetary, payroll, fixed asset and tax apportionment/collection systems. Overall, Martinovich and her staff work to instill public trust and ensure the financial integrity of the County – which has a $716.6 million budget – by safeguarding funds and promoting prudent use of resources.
“Mina has been an important member of our administrative team for the past 11 years,” said County Administrator Matthew Hymel. “We feel fortunate to have someone with her skills and abilities to lead our Finance department going forward.”
Prior to joining the County, Martinovich was a senior associated with the international accounting network KPMG. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco and is a certified public accountant.
Martinovich will lead a team of 61 full-time equivalent staff positions and manage an annual departmental budget of $10.3 million. Her annual salary will be $235,102 with benefits consistent with those received by other department heads.
