Lifeguards Needed at McNears Beach Park

Apply online for two positions with Marin County Parks

San Rafael, CA – What if your “What I Did On My Summer Vacation” essay was a dramatic account of how you saved someone’s life? Or at least about making sure kids stayed safe while cooling off in a pool? There’s a way to make that happen: Take a job as Marin County Parks lifeguard at McNears Beach Park in San Rafael.

Recruiting is underway for two positions, one lifeguard (minimum pay $16.32 per hour) and one senior lifeguard (minimum pay $21.77 per hour). The pool is open through Labor Day, September 5.

“Finding qualified lifeguards is a local, regional and national challenge for public pools like ours,” said Supervising Park Ranger Kevin O’Donoghue. “We are encouraging qualified applicants to step forward so we don’t have any issues keeping the pool open this summer. It’s a very popular place.”

Certificates and licenses in first aid, lifeguarding and CPR are required for both positions. The senior lifeguard must have one season of lifeguarding experience at a public pool. Being bilingual in English and Spanish is a highly desired skill for these openings.

McNears Beach Park, located at 201 Cantera Way on the eastern peninsula of San Rafael, is a 55-acre regional park is set in a beautiful sheltered cove along the shores of San Pablo Bay. It is surrounded by trees, turf areas, a beach, snack bar, and restrooms.
