San Rafael, CA – The County of Marin has debuted a centralized online location for accepting payments to make it easier for local residents to conduct their business with the County government.
The Payment Center makes it much easier to transfer money to a County department.
The new Payment Center, found on the front page of www.marincounty.org, cuts down the amount of clicks it takes to reach a place to make a payment to any County department or to Marin County Superior Court. Online visitors will find it easy to make payments to Child Support Services, the Sheriff’s Office, the Marin County Free Library, Finance, Probation, and Parks.
The County’s Information Services and Technology (IST) team created the Payment Center to save time for web visitors as well as County staff.
“All of those online payments could be made before by navigating through the website, but now this one-stop shop provides a convenient way to pay,” said Wesley Hill, IST Principal Systems Analyst and the leader of the County’s web team. “The goal is to add convenience and efficiency on both ends – for our residents and for us. Gradually we are cutting back on the need for people to go down to the Civic Center with a checkbook to pay for something.”
IST plans to add more online payment options soon. Services such as paying for contractor permits, business licenses, transient occupancy taxes, Parks services and other over-the-counter transactions will be rolled out as they become available.
"We continually strive to make it easier for the public to conduct their business with Marin County,” IST Director Charlie Haase said. “The County accepts online payments for a variety of services we offer. It makes sense to provide the public an easy method to select the type of payment from a central web location that takes them to the appropriate site to make their payment."
