Candidate Filing Opens for June Election

Nominations accepted through March 11

San Rafael, CA – The nomination period opens today for federal, state and local offices in the June 7 Presidential Primary Election.

The nomination period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, March 11, with an extension to Wednesday, March 16, if an incumbent officeholder does not file.

Open seats include United States Senator, U.S. Representative in Congress, California State Assembly member, County Central committee member, Superior Court Judge offices, County Board of Supervisors and directors of two special districts, Almonte Sanitary District and Sanitary District No. 1. The complete list of open seats and qualifications is on the Elections Department website, www.marinvotes.org.

Except for those in city and town offices, candidates may pick up and file nomination papers at the Marin County Elections Department, Suite 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. The hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. Friday, March 11.

New this year, candidates can submit their application form online at www.marinvotes.org. Under Featured Links, click on Forms to access the candidate application form.

Candidates for city and town offices, which include City of Belvedere and Town of Ross, must pick up and file nomination papers at the office of their city or town clerk.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 7. The deadline to register to vote in this election is Monday, May 23.
