San Rafael, CA – The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the largest hubs for human trafficking in the country, and many in Marin County are not aware that it exists in our communities.
Human trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery that includes both sex and labor trafficking. In response, the Marin County Coalition to End Human Trafficking was formed to raise awareness and develop a regional and collaborative approach to end all forms of human trafficking.
The coalition has launched a website and invites you to learn more at www.mcceht.org.
The coalition, which includes the Marin County District Attorney’s Office, continues to:
- Identify local resources that support survivors of human trafficking
- Assist in the development of a law enforcement protocol to effectively investigate human trafficking cases and hold perpetrators accountable
- Hold quarterly public meetings with presentations on human trafficking
- Track important legislation
The coalition is in the process of planning its 2017 outreach activities. Join us on November 7, 10 a.m. to noon, in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, Suite 330, Marin Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
