Feedback Sought on Development Review Process

Tell the County how it can improve customer service at July 8 meeting

San Rafael, CA – The County of Marin is looking for ways to make it easier for people to navigate and understand the County’s development review process, and its door is wide open for feedback on customer service.

On July 8, a group that advises the Community Development Agency (CDA) is welcoming contractors, interest group representatives, real estate agents and others who regularly interact with development projects in unincorporated areas of Marin to attend a workshop and offer ideas. The Regulatory Improvements Advisory Committee (RIAC) is collecting data to be presented to the Marin County Board of Supervisors this summer.

“This workshop is aimed at working professionals, interest group representatives and members of the public who have real-life experiences with the County’s development review process and how those experiences may relate to findings in the committee’s report,” said Brian Crawford, Director of the County CDA.

RIAC was formed in 2012 after the Board of Supervisors directed the CDA to form an advisory group to evaluate strategies and opportunities for improvements. The committee’s focus has been on identifying options for improving the efficiency of the CDA’s permit review process and improving communication with a variety of stakeholders. The first community workshop on the subject was held in March 2013, and the RIAC report is on the County website.

The July 8 workshop is set for 5-7 p.m. at the Connection Center Conference Room of the Marin Health and Wellness Campus, 3240 Kerner Blvd., in San Rafael. For more information about the meeting, contact Joyce Evans at 473-3768.
