Marin County Board of Supervisors Seeks Volunteer Members for Measure A Community Oversight Committee (Parks, Open Space and Farmland Preservation)

San Rafael, CA – The application deadline is 5 p.m. Dec. 30 for five openings on the Marin County Measure A Community Oversight Committee.

Marin voters approved the Marin Parks, Open Space and Farmland Preservation Transactions and Use Tax Ordinance (Marin County Ordinance 3586) on Nov. 6, 2012.  The volunteer committee members review annual expenditures to ensure conformity to the Ordinance 3586 Expenditure Plan, oversee an annual audit, and prepare an annual report describing how funds were spent. 

All Committee members must be Marin County residents who are neither elected officials of any government body nor employees from agencies or organizations that either oversee or benefit from the tax receipts of Measure A. More specific qualifications are as follows:

*  One committee member shall represent Marin’s agricultural community and be knowledgeable of agricultural conservation easements as a method of farmland preservation

*  Four members shall possess working knowledge in subject areas and disciplines beneficial to the work of the committee, such as financial management and reporting, public agency administration and the provision of public parks and open space services
