Marin City Back-to-School Celebration Set for Aug. 26

Marin Housing Authority collaborates with others to promote parental involvement, boost attendance

Marin Housing Authority is proud to present its first Back-to-School Celebration on Monday, August 26, at 3:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Village in Marin City, CA.

This event is made possible through collaborative community meetings involving, among others, the Marin Housing Authority, Sausalito Marin City School District, Marin County employees from juvenile probation and Child Protective Services, Agency-Wide Resident Council, and parents who live at Golden Gate Village.

One of the purposes of this burgeoning collaboration is to formulate a community approach to address school attendance and parental involvement in their children’s education.  Another purpose is to connect Golden Gate Village with resources to further their higher education goals and to increase incentives relating to education for Golden Gate Village students.  The Back-to-School Celebration will bring the community together and reinforce these partnerships, as well as continue to show support for parents and children embarking on a new year of learning.

Parents, children, community supporters, organizations, and public agencies that serve our youth will be out in force in school/college wear to enjoy speakers, barbecue dinner, Astro Jump, games, a DJ, entertainment, resource information and a giveaway of prizes.

This event is sponsored by the Marin Housing Authority, Sausalito Marin City School District, Marin City Community Development Corporation, Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Performing Stars of Marin, and Marin City Community Services District.
