UPDATED MARCH 16, 2022

Project Description

Black Point Boat Launch is a popular location for boating, fishing, and visitor gatherings. To enhance the recreational experience, Marin County Parks has upgraded visitor amenities. Old site furnishings were removed. New picnic tables, shade structure, bike racks, bait cutting table, and trash cans were installed. Landscaping was beautified, with site appropriate, low water plantings and new irrigation.

Background

Black Point Boat Launch is a San Francisco Bay Area Water Trail trailhead and is the only boating facility within Marin County that provides public access to the Petaluma River, San Pablo Bay, and San Francisco Bay. The boat launch was built in 1962 and renovated in 2007 and 2009 using California Department of Boating and Waterways grants. Renovations in 2007 and 2009 included a dock, ramp, a pump-out station, a restroom, a fish cleaning station, a boat washdown, picnic areas,  and an concrete pathway with rails between the parking area and the waters edge, all of which were compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.
