This program is a partnership between the County of Marin and local community-based organizations, including Adopt A Family, Canal Alliance, Community Action Marin, North Marin Community Services, Ritter Center, St. Vincent de Paul Society, West Marin Community Services and Women Helping All People.

Community Action Marin is the largest non-profit provider of services to low-income individuals and families in the county. Designated by the Marin Board of Supervisors as the county’s official antipoverty agency, our mandate is to eliminate the causes and consequences of poverty.  We are an independent 501(c)3 and part of the national network of over 1100 Community Action agencies birthed from President Lyndon Johnson’s “War on Poverty.” Created through the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, our agency began with a commitment to drive equity and self-sufficiency for all.

The agency serves people of low income across all of Marin County, California, fighting the causes and consequences of poverty. We operate more than 19 programs under five service areas, including Safety Net, Economic Opportunity & Workforce Development, Children and Family Services, Mental Health, and Equity Initiatives. Marin is ranked first among California's counties for economic disparities based on race in the most racially disparate county in California. We have a 53-year history of meeting the needs of those seeking self-sufficiency throughout Marin, with service centers from West Marin to Marin City, from San Rafael to Novato.

NMCS Rental Assistance Management Hours

North Marin Community Services is an anchor human service nonprofit organization that provides educational, enrichment and support services to residents in North Marin, CA. Annually 8,400+ youth, adults, seniors and families receive support, with an emphasis on serving those in-need. People can access services through the initial door they came though, whether it be our weekly Food Pantry, Rental Assistance, Child Development, Mental Health, Case Management, or Promotores. The Ritter Center is currently offering on campus services such as food pantry, medical visits and rep payee to individuals already enrolled in that program. M, W, F: 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.

Food Pantry: Our supplemental food pantry is providing preassembled pantry bags.

Ritter Health Center (415) 457-8182 x111: The Ritter Center Health Center will be accepting non-urgent matters by phone visits, while all non-urgent labs and preventive health screenings will be postponed until the shelter in place order is lifted.

Case Management: The Ritter Center Case Management department is operating with a new workflow and limited on-campus services, all of which are aimed to keep our clients and staff safe so we can continue to provide our community with excellent health care during this public health emergency.

Whole Person Care: Ritter Center’s Whole Person Care team will be temporarily conducting telephone check-in calls to individuals enrolled with Whole Person Care during the Shelter-in- Place order. Behavioral Health: The Ritter Center Counseling Department is currently continuing to provide psychotherapy services by phone. Ritter is still accepting new clients for adult psychotherapy who have MediCal insurance. Please contact Dr. Imme Staeffler, Psy D (415) 457-8182 x204. In case of an emergency, please call 911 as Ritter Center does not provide mental health crisis responder services.

Benefits Enrollment: During the COVID SIP all enrollments for benefits will be processed over the phone. Please contact Erika Fuyo at (415) 457-8182 x224, erika@rittercenter.org for assistance with Medical, CalFresh and CalWorks.

Safety Net: Ritter Center’s Substance Use Disorder Treatment is continuing to accept referrals into the program to individuals who are currently uninsured, and those with Medi-Cal insurance through Marin County. All assessments, individuals, and group therapy are being provided via telehealth. For a confidential assessment please contact the Safety Net Program Director, Rory Rieger at (415) 457-8182 x203.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin County is committed to the dignity of all people and to offering assistance in the form of free hot meals, rental deposits, utility assistance, social service referrals, and other vital needs. The purpose of West Marin Community Services is to support programs and services that ensure the well-being of individuals and families in West Marin. Self-sufficiency, human dignity and social justice are the values that guide our efforts.

Food Pantry: Open five days a week, our current hours of food distribution are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. &ndasp; 5:00 p.m.

Emergency Assistance: Assistance is fast, confidential, and available for all low-income residents in West Marin and/or those experiencing temporary hard times. We provide for a range of needs, including heat, housing rental, car and home repairs, medical costs, and other miscellaneous issues.

Homeless Services: Including shower vouchers, care bags, and clothing voucher to West Marin Community Thrift Store.

Event Rentals: The WMCS Event Library is a member of Marin County’s Zero Waste Marin program. By avoiding throw-away items with one-time use, we can all help make West Marin sustainable.

Women Helping All People provides a multi-strategic approach for the educational and economic empowerment of low-income, youth and adults. Our overall mission is to nurture a community of learners by bringing needed resources -- information, support services and educational opportunities that encourage self-esteem, self-sufficiency, and community cohesion.  Golden Gate Village is the home of most clients we serve; we are assisting the residents to preserve their Historic homes.

WHAP works in collaboration with various County agencies to meet the needs for residents of Southern Marin.

In 2020, WHAP began Women Helping All People Scholastic Academy (WHAPSA.)  WHAPSA is a private Christian school for grades kindergarten through 12th grade.
