San Rafael, CA – If you feel called to public service, the nomination period has opened for federal, state and local offices in the June 7, 2022, Statewide Direct Primary Election.
In addition to all the information on www.marinvotes.org, there are hard copies of the candidate guide available at the Marin County Elections Department in San Rafael.
The nomination period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, March 11, with an extension to Wednesday, March 16, if an incumbent officeholder does not file.
Seats open for nomination include:
- United States Senator and United States Senator (unexpired term), U.S. Representative in Congress;
- California State Assembly Member, California State Senator;
- State Constitutional Offices: Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State Controller, State Treasurer, State Board of Equalization, State Insurance Commissioner, State Attorney General, State Superintendent of Public Instruction;
- Superior Court Judges – Offices 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6;
- County Board of Supervisors – Districts 1 and 5;
- County Offices: Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk, District Attorney, Sheriff/Coroner, County Superintendent of Schools;
- Almonte Sanitary District, Ross Valley Sanitary District;
- Mill Valley City Council and Ross Town Council (municipal candidates must file nomination documents with their respective city clerk).
Except for those running for city and town offices, candidates may pick up and file their nomination papers at the Marin County Elections Department, Suite 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. The hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 11.
