How Do You Navigate MarinCounty.org?

Short activity measures ways users seek information to inform future structure

San Rafael, CA – The County of Marin is looking for community input to help inform a new design and structure for MarinCounty.org.

Laptop open to MarinCounty.org hompage.Up to 500 people will be surveyed using the interactive web search activity.

The project team is beginning to develop the content organization and navigation labels for the new website. To help organize the content, they’re looking for participants to complete a short activity online at MarinCounty.org/NavigationSurvey. The activity takes only 5 to 10 minutes but provides helpful information for organizing content. The activity is available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Earlier this year, the County embarked on a process to update the website to be more user friendly and accessible. Baked into the development process is the ongoing collection of community feedback regarding resident information needs, website functionality, and user experience.

“Our website is not only a place to conduct business, but it’s an important part of our overall customer service experience in how residents interact with government,” said Laine Hendricks, Public Information Officer for Marin and member of the website redesign team. “We want the public’s help in how we can make that service experience as quick and helpful as possible. Even those who rarely visit our website are welcome to participate.”

While more than 300 people have participated in the activity so far, the County hopes to survey 500 people. The activity will remain open for participation through Sunday, May 15.

The new version of the website is expected to debut in late 2022, with full integration expected by late 2023.  It will feature updated navigation, improved search options and a fresh look and feel.
