San Rafael, CA – Effective July 1, the employment and training center called CareerPoint Marin and the associated State of California Employment Development Department (EDD) Workforce Services will move out of their building in northern San Rafael and relocate to other offices in the county to be announced later.
The center, administered by the Workforce Alliance of the North Bay (WANB) and most recently operated by Social Services staff of Marin County Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the last several decades, has been at 120 North Redwood Drive just off Highway 101 since 2003.
WANB has selected Equus Workforce Solutions as the new CareerPoint Marin career services provider, and California Human Development will be the new One Stop Operator. Locations and contact information for new CareerPoint Marin offices will be announced by WANB.
All CareerPoint Marin clients and training vendors have been notified of the change in management to provide for a smooth transition of services. Marin HHS will continue to use 120 North Redwood campus to provide employment and training services to local residents enrolled in HHS public assistance services. Although it will no longer manage the center, Marin HHS will remain an active partner in the WIOA network of agencies and aid individuals enrolled in HHS services and programs.
CareerPoint Marin is an agency fulfilling requirements of the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), last updated in 1998. WIOA is landmark legislation designed to strengthen and improve the public workforce system and help get Americans, including youths and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers while helping employers hire and retain skilled workers.
