In-Person Marin County Fair Returns in 2022

Theme for June 30 to July 4: ‘So Happy Together’

San Rafael, CA – Plans are underway for the first in-person Marin County Fair since summer 2019, an outdoor-only event with the theme “So Happy Together.” From June 30 through July 4, 2022, the Marin County Department of Cultural Services will invite visitors to the County Fairgrounds in San Rafael for the outdoor-only event to ensure the health and safety of the community, entertainers, vendors, and staff.

The 2022 fair will focus on outdoor headline entertainment (free with the cost of fair admission), performers roaming the grounds such as jugglers, unicyclists, and stilt walkers, and interactive art experiences for fans of all ages. Returning fair favorites will include traditional carnival rides, the Global Marketplace, food and drinks, and fireworks over the Civic Center’s Lagoon Park.

The always-popular competitive exhibits program will take place online as it did in 2021.

“We are excited to return to our first in-person fair since 2019, and we know our community is eager for this as well,” said Director of Cultural Services Gabriella Calicchio. “We’re planning an outdoor-only fair in 2022 and look forward to returning to a full indoor/outdoor fair in 2023. The fair staff has already begun planning a fun, engaging, art-filled event,  and we look forward to bringing our community back together next summer.”

The So Happy Together poster was designed by Marin County artist Raul Del Rio specially for the 2022 fair. The painting joyously illustrates the Marin County Fair’s core values of art, agriculture, and community while also celebrating the spirit of togetherness, inclusivity, diversity, and fun.

In the spring, the fair’s headline music acts will be announced and tickets will go on sale.

The fair will follow guidance from Marin County Public Health to ensure the health and safety of all fair visitors and participants. Follow the latest on local guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic on Public Health’s website.
