San Rafael, CA – Ballots for the March 3 Presidential Primary Election have been sent to vote-by-mail voters in Marin County, and voting is taking place at the Elections Department at the Marin County Civic Center. Meanwhile, recruitment is in full swing for more Election Day poll workers.
Registered voters may cast a ballot weekdays inside the Elections Department at the Civic Center.Registered voters may walk into the Elections Department and cast a ballot between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays or until 8 p.m. on Election Day. The office is in Suite 121 at 3501 Civic Center Drive in San Rafael.
Eligible residents can still register by February 18 to vote-by-mail or vote at the polls. Starting February 19, persons may register online at www.registertovote.ca.gov, or come to the Elections Department, and will have to vote provisionally in the Elections Department. On Election Day, late registration and voting provisionally can take place at a voter’s polling place or the Elections Department until 8 p.m.
“Now that people can register late and vote provisionally at their polling place, we need more poll workers and would like to hire up to 100 people for Election Day,” said Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts
Those who want to receive a ballot in the mail must apply by February 25 in one of the following ways:
- Online at www.marinvotes.org
- By phone at 415-473-6441 or 415-473-6444
- In person at the Elections Department during the regular hours, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- In writing by using the application on the back cover of the Voter Information Guide or mailing or faxing a request to the Registrar of Voters, Marin County Civic Center, P.O. Box E, San Rafael, CA 94913. The fax number is 415-473-6447.
If you miss the February 25 deadline, you can get a vote-by-mail ballot by coming to the Elections Department.
Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day. For convenience, a secure ballot box decorated in red, white and blue is located at the main entrance to the Civic Center through 8 p.m. Election Day. The entrance is on Peter Behr Drive under the Civic Center’s south archway.
“We check the box every afternoon and retrieve ballots so we can process them right away,” Roberts said. “I can’t emphasize enough that voters need to sign their return envelope to avoid a delay in processing the ballot.”
