Master Home Energy Efficiency with Free Webinar

Marin County Sustainability Team coordinates money-saving rebates, advice

San Rafael, CA – What does indoor air quality have to do with energy efficiency? Quite a bit, actually.

Sealing air gaps between a home’s conditioned space and the attic and crawl spaces can help reduce dust and particulate matter and help save on heating and cooling costs. The same can be said for fixing or replacing old air duct systems. Upgrading old gas-fueled appliances with energy efficient electric options can help reduce combustion gases.

Now, Marin County residents can take advantage of financial incentive programs to help with the cost of some home improvement projects. A free webinar July 25 is designed to help residents with home improvement strategies and describe the programs that can help pay for them. From 10-11 a.m., industry experts will lead the conversation and participants will be able to ask questions at the end of the webinar.

There’s no need to wait until the webinar to get started with researching rebate programs. There are two excellent options:

  • The Bay Area Regional Energy Network’s (BayREN) Home+ program offers up to $5,000 in incentives for energy efficiency projects, including an extra $1,000 rebate through August 2020. Visit www.bayrenresidential.org or call a home energy advisor at 866-878-6008.
  • Marin County’s Electrify Marin program connects residents with rebates for switching old gas appliances to energy efficient electric options. Details are on www.marincounty.org/electrify or by calling 415-473-3069.

Because of COVID-19, the Marin County Community Development Agency Sustainability Team has shifted in-person community trainings on sustainability topics to online webinars. The Sustainability Team is co-hosting another webinar with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company on solar and battery technology for homeowners from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. August 8.
