San Rafael, CA – The Marin County Probation Department conducted an operation October 2 by contacting 21 offenders on supervised probation for alcohol-related offenses. One arrest was made in San Rafael for a new law violation.
The operation was led by the Probation Department’s Special Programs Unit. The Marin County Coordination of Probation Enforcement (COPE) Team assisted with the operation.
Three teams split up across the county to conduct extensive searches of residences and vehicles belonging to DUI offenders. Two searches revealed alcohol and/or drug paraphernalia resulting in violations of probation.
The operation reflects Probation’s continued effort to conduct routine unannounced visits of those on supervised probation. The contacts verify compliance of court-ordered terms and conditions as well as provide a probation presence within the community.
“We are committed to holding offenders accountable and promoting public safety through compliance checks,” said Deputy Probation Officer Gerard McCarthy, who led the operation.
The Probation Department is committed to focusing resources on both community safety and the rehabilitation of those who enter the criminal justice system, and this is just one of its many efforts.
