San Rafael, CA – With the deadline fast approaching, now is the time to register to vote in the August 27 election for those living in the Bolinas-Stinson Union School District and the Inverness Permanent Road Division No. 2. Both ballot measures pertain to parcel tax assessments and require a two-thirds majority to pass.
Voters can register online at www.registertovote.ca.gov or fill out and mail a voter registration form, which must be postmarked on or before August 12.
Lynda Roberts, Marin County’s Registrar of Voters, reminds voters that this is a vote-by-mail election and there are no polling places.
Roberts has a few more reminders:
- Starting August 12, a secure drop box will be located outside the Civic Center entrance on Peter Behr Drive and will be available through 8 p.m. Election Day. The box will be outside the south archway, the arch closest to North San Pedro Road.
- Be sure to sign the ballot envelope with a signature that matches the one on the voter registration form.
- If the August 12 registration deadline is missed, voters may register online or in the Elections Department office, but they must cast their ballot in the Elections Department. Ballots cannot be mailed to those who register late.
- Elections Department regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Election Day, the office will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Anyone may check their voter registration status by going to www.marinvotes.org and clicking on the Voter Information Portal. Call the registrar’s 24-hour phone line at 415-473-6456 or 415-473-6448 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays to check registration.
