Supervisors seek Marin representatives for Regional Measure 3 oversight group

San Rafael, CA – Bay Area Regional Measure 3 (RM3) received majority support by voters in July 2018 and is designed to finance highway and transit improvements through increases in tolls on the region’s seven state-owned bridges. Now, the Marin County Board of Supervisors is seeking local representatives for the Regional Measure 3 Independent Oversight Committee. The application deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, June 28.

The RM3 Oversight Committee will be established by the Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) pursuant to Senate Bill 595. The committee will ensure that any toll revenues generated by the RM3 increase are expended consistent with the RM3 expenditure plan set forth in Streets and Highways Code Section 30914.7.

The committee will annually review the expenditure of funds and prepare and submit a report to the transportation committee of each house of the state Legislature summarizing its findings. The oversight committee may request any documents from BATA to assist the committee in performing its functions.

An individual interested in serving on the committee must be a resident of Marin and meet the following criteria:

  • The applicant cannot be a member, former member, staff, or former staff of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) or BATA.
  • The applicant cannot be employed by any organization or person that has received or is receiving funding from MTC or BATA.
  • The applicant cannot be a former employee or a person who has contracted with any organization or person that has received or is receiving funding from MTC or BATA within one year of having worked for or contracted with that organization or person.

Meeting dates, frequency, and length of meetings will be established by the members of the committee. The meeting locations will be at the Bay Area Metro Center in San Francisco. BATA anticipates providing a stipend to members for meeting attendance. The term length for representatives is four years and each representative is limited to two terms.
