San Rafael, CA – After consultation with Marin County’s Public Health Officer and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, Marin County Parks on November 17 closed the County’s four regional parks until further notice out of an abundance of caution because of air quality.
The smoke drifting southwest from the Camp Fire in Butte County and encompassing the San Francisco Bay Area has resulted in very unhealthy air quality, and public health recommendations are to minimize outdoor activity.
The closure included McNears Beach and McInnis parks in San Rafael, Paradise Beach Park in Tiburon, and Stafford Lake Park in Novato. The McInnis Park Club restaurant remains open for business. County staff will monitor the forecast and consider extending the closure into next week if unhealthy conditions persist.
