San Rafael, CA – A wide range of vehicles will be available for public purchase starting Saturday, April 21, when the Marin County Department of Public Works starts an online auction. The selection includes pickup trucks, dump trucks, and heavy equipment, as well as several cars, including a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria and two 2010 Chevy Impalas.
This 2010 Chevy Impala is part of the online auction that runs April 21-28. Surplus vehicles and equipment are being offered at below market value. The auction is hosted by
www.publicsurplus.com, a secure auction website specializing in selling surplus government property to the public.
As Marin County is committed to environmental awareness and fiscally responsible spending, the County fleet continues to be reduced. Vehicles with high fuel consumption or excessive particulate emissions are being sold and, if possible, replaced by more environmentally friendly options. The County fleet includes 80 hybrids and eight electric vehicles. Renewable diesel fuel and solar powered charging stations are also used to reduce the fleet’s carbon footprint.
The auction begins at midnight Saturday, April 21, and closes at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Details about the auction items are not available or visible on the website until the auction begins. Vehicles with their corresponding service records are available for viewing Tuesday, April 24, through Thursday, April 26, from noon to 3 p.m. at the County Public Works Garage, 6 Peter Behr Dr., San Rafael.
All items are sold “as is” and all sales are final; it is the buyer’s responsibility to check the vehicle’s condition prior to purchase. Payment must be received by Public Surplus within five business days of the auction’s close, and vehicles must be picked up weekdays between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. within five business days of receipt of payment.
