Local task force has opening for person from unincorporated Marin

San Rafael, CA – There is a vacancy for a public member on the Marin County Hazardous and Solid Waste Management Joint Powers Authority Local Task Force (LTF). Applicants must reside in an unincorporated area of Marin County.

Knowledge of current environmental concerns and solid waste management is desirable. Applications will be accepted through November 16.

The LTF serves as an advisory body to the Joint Powers Authority (JPA) Board of Directors. The LTF provides viewpoints and concerns from different geographical areas of the county, solid waste haulers/facility operators, special districts, and environmental organizations. The LTF is an advisory group that provides guidance to the JPA Board of Directors on emerging solid waste issues and assists in the review of the JPA’s Integrated Waste Management Plan.

To help ensure an applicant’s availability to participate, interested individuals should note that the LTF meets on the first Wednesdays of the month at 8:30 a.m. for about 90 minutes – with the particular months (typically bi-monthly or quarterly) of the year set by the LTF.  Applicants are encouraged to review zerowastemarin.org and attend an upcoming meeting.

Apply online or learn more about the application process by calling the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at 415-473-7331. You can also request an application by mail at Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Suite 329, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael CA 94903 or by email at commissions@marincounty.org.
