San Rafael, CA – The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, August 10, for an appointment to the Marin County Disaster Council, which reviews matters pertaining to disaster preparedness and makes recommendations to the public and local decision-makers.
The vacancy represents Marin County special districts, so candidates are required to be a duly-elected special district board member or district staff member selected by a special district board of directors. The appointing authority is the Marin County Board of Supervisors and the term is for two years.
Special districts are local government agencies that provide essential services to millions of Californians (as defined in California Government Code section 56036). Special districts are formed and governed by residents to establish or enhance essential services and infrastructure in their communities. The Disaster Council reviews, evaluates, and communicates to decision makers and the public on all matters pertaining to disaster preparedness.
