Registered voters may walk into the Elections Department and cast a ballot between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays or until 8 p.m. on Election Day. The office is in Suite 121 at 3501 Civic Center Drive in San Rafael.

Jurisdictions participating in this election include the cities and towns of Fairfax, Larkspur, Novato, San Anselmo, Sausalito, Tiburon, the community service districts in Marin City and Muir Beach, the Lagunitas School District, Marin County Flood Control District Zone No. 1 and the Mesa Park Recreation District.

The audio recordings of the local measures on the ballot are available at the Elections Department and at www.marinvotes.org. Voters may access their voter information guide by signing in to the Voter Information Portal on that webpage.

Those who want to receive a ballot in the mail must apply by October 31 in one of the following ways:

  • Online at www.marinvotes.org
  • By phone at 415-473-6441 or 415-473-6444
  • In person at the Elections Department during the regular hours, weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • In writing by using the application on the back cover of the Voter Information Guide, or mailing or faxing a request to the Registrar of Voters, Marin County Civic Center, P.O. Box E, San Rafael, CA 94913. The fax number is 415-473-6447.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day. For convenience, a secure ballot box decorated in red, white and blue is located at the main entrance to the Civic Center through 8 p.m. Election Day. The entrance is on Peter Behr Drive under the Civic Center’s south archway.

“We check the box every afternoon and retrieve ballots so we can process them right away,” said Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts.

She also reminds voters to sign their return envelope or the Elections Department cannot process the ballot.

If you’re not sure if you are registered to vote but plan to vote in this election, check the Voter Information Portal at www.marinvotes.org to find out, or call 415-473-6456.
