San Rafael, CA – As a reminder to Marin County residents who vote by mail, a red, white and blue secure ballot box is stationed at the main entrance to the Marin County Civic Center through 8 p.m. Election Day, June 7. The main entrance is on Peter Behr Drive under the Civic Center’s south archway.

Typically the box is available seven days prior to an election, but in anticipation of a heavy turnout for June, the
Marin County Elections Department put the box out on May 16.
“We check the box every afternoon and retrieve ballots so we can process them right away,” said Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts. “Ballots processed from now until June 6 will be reported on election night.”
Roberts also reminded voters to sign the return envelope or else the Elections Department cannot process the ballot. “Following up with voters to get their signature is very time consuming for us,” Roberts said.
The postmark matters for those who prefer to mail their ballot. A ballot can count if it is postmarked on Election Day and received by the Elections Department within three days. However, Roberts encouraged voters to mail their ballot back a week before the election.
Voters may cast ballots in person at the Elections Department during regular weekday hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or on Election Day, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, go to www.marinvotes.org or call the Elections Department at 415-473-6441 or 415-473-6444.
