San Rafael, CA – Are you feeling the election season spirit and an urge to serve your community? Potential candidates may file nomination papers for the local offices in the November 8 General Election anytime in the next three weeks.
Candidates may fill out nomination papers at the Marin County Elections Department at the Civic Center.
The nomination period ends at 5 p.m. Friday, August 12, with an extension to Wednesday, August 17, if an incumbent officeholder does not file.
There are open seats on school district boards and special districts, including resource conservation, fire protection, health care, water, and recreation districts. The complete list of open seats and qualifications is on the Elections Department website at www.marinvotes.org.
Candidates may pick up and file their nomination papers at the Marin County Elections Department, Suite 121, Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. The hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and until 5 p.m. on Friday, August 12.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8. The deadline to register to vote in this election is Monday, October 24.
