Eleven Local Measures on November Ballot

Deadline to file arguments is 4:30 p.m. August 22

San Rafael, CA – Marin County residents will have the opportunity to vote on local measures November 8 that include county, school, municipal and special district measures. The deadline for written arguments in favor or opposing the measures is coming up soon.

The ballot will include a countywide measure proposing a quarter-cent sales tax to fund the Marin Strong Start For Kids plan. In addition, voters in Kentfield and Mill Valley School Districts will see parcel tax measures on their ballot, and voters in the Novato Unified School District will see a bond measure on their ballot. Voters in the City of Mill Valley, Town of Fairfax and Town of Ross will also vote on tax measures, as will residents in the Muir Beach Community Services District, County Service Area #17-1 (Kent Woodlands) and County Service Area #29.

Written arguments for and against these measures may be filed by the governing board, members of the board, bona fide associations of citizens, or any resident who is eligible to vote on the measure. 

The deadline for filing arguments is 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 22.  Completed submission and signature forms are required at the time of filing. Arguments for city and town measures are filed with the city or town clerk. Contact the respective clerk about requirements and deadlines since they may be different. 

The list of measures and information about filing arguments can be found at www.marinvotes.org. Documents are available for public examination in the Elections Department for 10 days from the filing date.

A sample ballot and informational pamphlets will be mailed to registered voters the final week of September, and official ballots will be mailed starting October 10.
